Week 8 Walking the Plank
Week 8
"Keep your wits about you"
Reading about a footballer filmed doing drugs - one of his coaches said they tell the players to "read the room" when they're out socialising...
It reminded me of one of Mum's sayings - to me at least, not sure if my brothers ever needed it :)
Keep your wits about you -
Every time Ben goes away - I say that - remember what Grandma said....yeah, yeah, comes the reply - but it must be more true now than it ever was...
Walking the plank...
Apparently, it may well turn out that we want to tie up in the middle of nowhere and the boat can't get to the edge - and Frank or Pam might have to go ashore :) at least to tie off
We had an old scaffolding plank left over from the new roof and some other scraps of a red variety.
We needed 3-phase power for the saw - Rudy has quite a few options for his various machines.
Back in my workshop... I've kept it at 2.55 metres, because it has to "live" on the roof. It may never be used and therefore should not be an obstruction for day to day activities...and not too heavy! I also have to make some holes in it so that it can have ropes attached - it can then hang horizontally on the outside of a few fenders - that set up is also referred to in some of my reading.
We have kids again this weekend - the weather is cold but signs of improvement are coming - at least we could do some outdoor activities...
I'm tidying up my workshop (for the umpteenth time!) - I found this old BBQ - bought in Guldens - so before 2002 - I thought it might be good to have on board the Tardis - but that would mean another gas cylinder...so we'll just clean it up and make a new wooden bit.
I also found an old name tag in a cigar box...more than 30 years ago! Still have fond memories - and a few friends - amazing to think where did that time go?
My Google Keep is full of quotations and thoughts - often people's comments about an article I have have just read...
The article was about the lack of compassion for other people (the story was about America), the divide - rich and poor, white and black, red and blue, rural and urban...take your pick...
This reply came from someone - and as I was reading it I thought about what it is like here in the Netherlands, or at least in my tiny corner of Friesland.
Still pretty good, I'd have to say - especially from the point of view of the work we are doing.
I doubt if the chap who wrote this has been to Europe - if he thinks the bolded bit (below). In fact, I'd say he has no idea - just based on my own experience
The cracks are evident of course. There is a political party here, with 5 seats, that actively supports Russia in the war...
Try adding the Netherlands and a fair chunk of Europe to that list
